PAUL TSANGARI
Conservation & Restoration of Fine Oil Paintings
History, Experience and Expertise.
With nearly three decades of experience Paul Tsangari has a
vast knowledge of Oil Painting Restoration and Conservation.
He began work in 1985 working predominantly for London's
West End Art Trade, when most of the works received were
Old Masters, Town and City scenes and still-life Paintings, by
Artists such as Leandro Jacapo Bassano and Melchior de Hondecoeter.
As the years progressed, works from the 19th and 20th Century
were becoming more dominant within the Studio;
Pre-Raphaelite paintings by Artists, Lord Frederick Leighton,
Ford Maddox Brown and Edward Coley Burne-Jones,
Modern British Artists such as Laurence Stephen Lowry,
Stanhope Forbes, Sir Winston Churchill and Sir Alfred Munnings,
and latterly Artists such as Dame Laura Knight, David Shepherd,
Paul Henry and Sir Kyffin Williams.
His clients have also included a number of 'film prop-hire' companies which
loan out original art-works for films and to the BBC and other important
production companies.
This entailed on-going repairs to paintings which were damaged or
required continous maintenance and care during production, on many
high profile films, such as, the 'Harry Potter' and 'James Bond' series of films.
He has performed work upon scaffolds, working in situ at privately owned
stately houses - Conserving 'Marouflage' Mural Paintings, to the walls and
ceilings which were painted by Louis Laguerre, whose artwork can be found
at Chatsworth House and Blenheim Palace.
Over the decades he has gained a vast knowledge of Oil Painting Conservation
and Restoration from the 15th to the 20th Century.
He has had the privilege to work on many highly important Artist's works
which are world renowned.
A number of paintings he has Conserved and Restored now hang on permanent
display at the Royal Academy, London.
